How to Install .net framework 1.1 in Windows 7 64-bit?

Net framework 1.1 incompatible and will not run in Windows 7 64-bit. I desperately need the program to work, and it is dependent on 1.1 being installed.

This has been known forever, from Vista through to Windows 7.

The solution to it is simple, and was posted on mydigitallife website ages ago (do a search for "mydigitallife net 1.1").

Otherwise here is a a copy/paste to install .Net 1.1 and SP1 into Vista or Win7 (32 or 64 bit).

Create a new folder named **DotNet**in C:\ drive (C:\DotNet is used in this guide, you can change to any folder you prefer, but ensure that you use correct path in the following steps).
Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Redistributable Package (dotnetfx.exe ). Make sure the setup file is saved asdotnetfx.exe .
Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe ). Make sure that the file is renamed and saved asdotnetfxsp1.exe , so that the rest of the steps can be followed easily.
Move both installation files into the same directory (i.e. C:\DotNet), if you’re not saving them together.
Open command prompt as Administrator .
Change to the directory where the two installation setup files for .NET 1.1 are saved (i.e. C:\DotNet).
Run the following commands one by one, press Enter after each one.
- dotnetfx.exe /c:"msiexec.exe /a netfx.msi TARGETDIR=C:\DotNet"
- Then click on “Yes” when prompted to answer “would you like to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. Package?”
- dotnetfxsp1.exe /Xp:C:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp
- msiexec.exe /a c:\DotNet\netfx.msi /p c:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp

Install Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 with slipstreamed/integrated Service Pack 1 by running netfx.msi created in the working folder.

To Stop the Dot Net installation Errors Pl follow the following Instructions. It Will b helpful 4 u.

Go to Command Prompt by running CMD as Administrator then do the following

a. Type Net stop wuauserv

b. Goto Windows Directory Rename the software Distribution folder into software DistributionOLD

c. Restart the PC

d. Now Install dot net

After the successful Installation Run the Following

e. Net start wuauserv

Here's the sequence to install .NET Framework 1.1, Service Pack 1 and patches on Windows 7 if your application requires .NET 1.1 runtime.

dotnetfx.exe (Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en

NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe /Q /L:c:\Net11-sp1-KB867460.log

NDP1.1sp1-KB891865-X86.exe /Q /L:c:\Net11-sp1-KB891865.log

NDP1.1sp1-KB886903-X86.exe /Q /L:c:\Net11-sp1-KB886903.log

All the .NET Framework versions can live side by side. Microsoft .NET 1.1 extended support retied on 10/8/2013http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/Default.aspx?sort=PN&alpha=.NET+Framework

Hi

I need to install the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer v2.8 and theExchange Troubleshooting Assistant v1.1 on my Windows 7 x64, and get the same warnings mentioned earlier ... "Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 is required for installation. Setup cancelled ..."

So to answer your suggestion; Microsoft, please update the code for these two analyzers to support the .Net Framework included in Windows 7 ...

Sad thing is, I have tried on three different computers all running Windows 7, 2 running 64 bit. I have went into

the"turn off and on windows settings" area in all of them, I have downloaded from 9 different Microsoft.com

forum threads the "magic link" each which is different for .net framework v 1.1.4 they do not work. Microsoft is

well aware of this issue, but it does not effect their bottom line of profit, because what are we going to do... go

back to XP? do any of us have XP install discs? if not we have to buy them.. if we can find them... and give more

money to the beast that is Microsoft. From what I have gathered... from searching the web on this, this is a VERY

COMMON issue, but there is not true solution, some can trick their machines some can not, I have been unable

too, neither my neighbor who is a IT guy for DOW chemical company. He even took the problem to work and

they have as yet, been unable to work around it. Not saying a group of IT guys is a good thing or a bad thing,

but, none of these "fixes" people suggest works for everyone. The only way Microsoft is going to care is if it were

to cost them money, and it does not, so they are not going to do anything about it. I got a response from a direct

email I sent them last week and the answer they game me was "go into control panel and create another user

account with administrator rights. log-off, reboot and then log into the new account and try to install .net

framework from that account." that did not work obviously... but what do they know, they only designed the

software... I mean that is like going to your mechanic and telling him the heater does not work in your car and

they say, well here is what you do... go to k-mart and get a new key made for the ignition, then put the new key

in and start the car, it should make the heater work... really? come on Mr. Gates and company, let's fix the issue

not give silly answers... but then again, maybe we will have this one fixed in the next version of windows or if

not, maybe the third one after that, sorry to gripe, but come on... we fork out tons of money for the OS's, we

have to upgrade virtually everything to run the OS's the least they could do, is offer a little real support... you

know what the worst part of this is, My wife has a macbook, running the most recent version of the Mac OS X,

and she installed the game and is playing it right now... no problems...
