How to Install .net framework 1.1 in Windows 7 64-bit?

Its not true! You requred all version of .NET , Even you have 4.0 or later you need all older version for compatible issue. This is stupidity of Microsoft.

2. Type- dotnetfx /c:"msiexec.exe /a netfx.msi TARGETDIR=C:\DotNet"
3. Type- dotnetfxsp1 /Xp:C:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp
4. Type- msiexec /a c:\DotNet\netfx.msi /p c:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp
5. Run from window netfx

Works with all my past & present PC/NB using Vista 32/64, Win7 64 home premium.

Your clarified steps worked, with some investigation of how to reach the command prompt. Successfully installed .Net Frameworks 1.1 on a Toshiba Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (with XP Mode enabled, but installed directly from Windows 7 command prompt window).

Here are original and clarified steps with a few implicit actions and assumptions made explicit:

1.       Create a new folder named **DotNet**in C:\ drive (C:\DotNet is used in this guide, you can change to any folder you prefer, but ensure that you use correct path in the following steps).

2.       Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Redistributable Package (dotnetfx.exe ). Make sure the setup file is saved as dotnetfx.exe .

3.       Download Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe ). Make sure that the file is renamed and saved as dotnetfxsp1.exe , so that the rest of the steps can be followed easily.

4.       Move both installation files into the same directory (i.e. C:\DotNet), if you’re not saving them together.

5.       Open command prompt as Administrator .

• Type-   command prompt   (in search bar)

(Click the “ command prompt “ program file found)

(a black command line box comes up called  “command prompt”)

6.       Change to the directory where the two installation setup files for .NET 1.1 are saved (i.e. C:\DotNet).

To do this:

• 1)       Type- cd c:\DotNet

7.       Run the following commands one by one.   Press the  “Enter” key after each command.

• 1)      Type-   dotnetfx.exe /c:"msiexec.exe /a netfx.msi TARGETDIR=C:\DotNet"
• 1a)       Click on YES when prompted with “Would you like to install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Package?”
• 1b)       Ignore any warnings of incompaticiity – Choose “ Run Program” instead
• 2)       Type-   dotnetfxsp1.exe /Xp:C:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp
• 3)       Type-   msiexec.exe /a c:\DotNet\netfx.msi /p c:\DotNet\netfxsp.msp

8.       Install Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 with slipstreamed Service Pack 1 by running netfx.msi from the working folder. To do this:

o        Go to the DotNet folder you created (  c:\DotNet  )

o        Locate the installer called netfx.msi

o        Double click to run this installer

o        Click “Run Program” when get message that program has incompatibilities.
