Error Code 1-80004005

Error Code 1-80004005 after reinstalling FSX on Vista. Activation form doesn't load therefore, there's no way to activate it. Observed several discussions on this using Google searches but never found a specific answer. Have tried the FSX installation DVD Repair option but no help there.

Well, I seemed to have fixed this myself. After reading through http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960481, I saw the mention of uninstalling FSX SP2 but for a different problem. I went to the control panel and under programs and features I found that it didn't show the FSX program nor SP1 but did show FSX SP2. So I uninstalled SP2. After that and just for the heck of it I thought I would try to fire up FSX and viola! the first thing that appeared was the activation form that I was unable to get earlier. I filled in the key code from my box, was accepted and now I appear to be running OK. I still haven't reinstalled SP2 yet as I am still flying around and resetting my settings that I had originally.

    Hey!

    I have the same problem..

    I am in love with FSX, I bought FSX Gold Edition in may 2013 and installed it on my pc (windows 7) and it worked fine. But a few days ago I bought a new HP with windows 8. I first installed FSX and after that I installed AEP. But then it says : ERROR CODE: 1 - 80004005.

    You've talked about this and I did the regedit thing and PartMgr was already there but I thought that I had to delete the line above that but I didn't, so..

    1. What to do?!
    2. What's the line above PartMgr?

    Can you guys please help me?

    Oh and for your info, I'm fourteen so less of the fancy words please..      Oh and it would be awesome if there was a picture near every step I must take..

    I just bought FSX and I got the same problem as JerryMc41. I uninstalled SP2 and it didn't fix my problem, I shows a message to reinstall SP2. What can I do?

    Thank you so much for your help in this matter. It really benefit me with windows 8.1. I just got new laptop IdeaPad Lenovo Y510P with OS windows 8.1. I got the same problem when I install FSX. but when I follow your instructions , it works with me perfectly. again thank you
