Hello - can anyone help me find a solution to my problem?

My problem:Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt. Status:Oxc000014C

I tried everything the sytem advised from going through safe mode etc.. I also attempted to reload my OS - which was last updated via windows update site. However, it did not work - probably because of all the updates from MS which meant that it would not load from the DVD.

It was a completely new custom system with MS Vista Untimate 64 bit, Office 2007, Asus MB, 250 GB HD ATI video card. I was using Vista for almost a year and had no probelm prior to today. All original software.

I have my thesis and several files I was working on for someone -  I was doing some consulting work for to supplement my income as a student.. Unfortunately, when I last used my system last night it was ok. Now I canot get my system to work.

I ended up contacting Microsoft directly and they were able to get my system up and running without me losing any of the data. Hooray for Microsoft!

My system is back to normal and I am making sure all my files are backed up on DVD's.

    my only question is how you got the CMD to run?i cant get my laptop to boot at all not even with the recovery disc inside....status: 0xc000000f Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt. DID YOU REALY HAD THIS PROB??????

    if u had this prob.. how did u get cmd to load ???????

    My Fix:

    1. Open the command line from the Windows Vista CD. 2. You need to have the following 6 files in C:\Windows\system32\config\ for Vista to work: a. components b. default c. SAM d. SECURITY e. SOFTWARE f. SYSTEM

    again plzzzzzz how the **** u got the CMD to run if laptop dont boot????

    i cant even do step 1 on your fix

    Thank you for saving my computer!  I did it a little different (had another hard drive with Windows installed, so I was able to use the second OS to manipulate the files).  I copied the files that were altered after my computer crash.  Oddly enough, one of the files was altered while my computer was unplugged!

    what should i do because iv got the same code come up as you the "0xc000000f" but i havent got a windows vista cd???????
