You will need to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate for this capability. Only Windows 7 Ultimate includes Multilingual User Interface (Language Pack) support. You can then install the English Language Pack from under Regional and Language settings in Control Panel.

You can do an Anytime Upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate which will preserve your personal files and settings:

    The truth is, this is pretty screwy on Microsoft's part. I understand they want to sell, but I don't need Windows Ultimate, but I do need one language pack. Why don't they sell individual language packs for versions other than Ultimate or Enterprise? I would be more willing to pay $10 or maybe even $15 for an individual language, than $150 to upgrade to W. Ultimate.

    Absolutely spot on thanks. Only issue is you need to be able to translate the Windows instructions into the language you are changing from because the menus are in the default language until the change has been implemented.

    This is now important for anyone with an overseas PC because Microsoft Office 2010 takes the default language from Windows 7 and you can't get round it by buying Office in the UK (as used to be possible for Office 2007). However, you can buy the Windows 7 upgrade to Ultimate in the UK as it is cheaper there and then look wherever Office is cheapest.

    Worked perfectly for me - French PC to English. Thanks for the help.
