blue screen memory management, driver fail

original title: bsod, blue screen of death, memory management, driver fail

I have just built a new PC, by ordering everything off scan.org.uk. Ever since I have first loaded up the PC it has frequently crashed on start-up. The desktop will show, then either a tone will play through the speakers and it will blue screen, or a box will come up informing me that a program has crashed (ipoint.exe, ccc.exe and others). The most common bsod is memory management, but there have been others. The computer ONLY crashes on start-up, and never when it has successfully loaded up. This problem does not appear every time I boot up, but it is still really annoying. Sometimes, after crashing, windows says it cannot restart and goes into start-up repair, this restores windows and then runs chkdisk. Sometime, but rarely, chkdisk will remove 2 or 3 registry keys and replace them. Please help, this is SO annoying.

    Hi,

See the methods in my message above posted on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 6:52 PM.

    Note :

Memory tests do not catch all errors such as mismatched memory (possible even for sticks

that appear to be identical) and when faster memory is placed in system behind slower memory.

So it is best to also swap sticks in and out to check for those even if all memory tests fail to show

    a problem.

There is also information on using the memory testing in Windows 7.

Only way to be sure the problem is memory related is to swap some in and out or even use

memory that is known to be good and see if the same problems occur.

And there can be other hardware and software issues that causes errors that seem to be

    memory which are not.

I have tried memtest 86+ - no errors

windows memory test - no errors

But there must be something wrong with my ram as even with all the drivers disabled it still crashed.

    hi guys

after hearing that it could be a driver issue at startup, and could be related to the amounts of gaming hardware I have, I disabled all startup entries I could in msconfig.exe. I have rebooted the pc twice now, and no bluescreen..... I'll be trying to isolate this problem the whole of today. Hope I find the driver that is causing my computer aggro.
