Devices and Printers Dialog Box Empty

When I open my "Devices and Printers" dialog box, it is empty; nothing shows up and the item listing says "0 items".

The devices and printers showed up in the Devices and Printers dialog box earlier, but now are gone from the dialog box. However, they are still in the system as everything seems to work. The problem comes with trying to set the preferences for any of the devices or printers since they can't be seen or accessed.

Anyone got any ideas of how to get the devices and printers to show up again?

Devices and printers will show one device when you have configured multiple printers for the same device. There is a fly out menu to get to all the other printers on the device. Use the spooler teams UI, printmanagement.msc to view all local printers on Pro and Ultimate.

The old printers folder can be launched if you are running Home versions.

Open a command prompt and paste this in.

I am having the same problem. I did a clean install from Vista and the computer has worked fine for weeks. Today, my devices and printer window is empty. I can still print from some applications, but Windows Live Mail gives me an error when I select print:

'an error has occurred in the script on this page'

By the way, no new hardware has been installed recently.

I found another post that solved my problem. I was about to give up and re-install Windows 7, but tried this and it worked.

You will only have problems again, after re-install the T610.

Till them, i'll see what I can do about it.

I guess I can say that you are right. Finally I found my D&P empty and so delete my hp device. Miracle, Iv' installed, insert some usb pendrive, removed programs, reboot and reboot. I've even installed comodo firewall. The folder is alway full and working. So, can we say that the problem is related to the Hp driver?

enrico1970: You are confusing me...

You are still having trouble because you still have T610 installed. To force the D+P window not empty and remove the printer, try to remove the Network Card from Devices. Reboot and reinstall the Network Card. That could force D+P to show up full. THEN, remove the printer. OK.

computer und mensch: I install T1100 using "Windows Update" drivers. There are no HP T1100 in the install window, but if you press the "Window Update" key and wait some minutes, there are drivers for it (and I supposed it would be the best drivers available).

Note 1: This is not related to any Anti-Virus application. PLEASE... the problem is HP software. Like I said before up in this thread, I have problems with this plotter 2 years ago with Windows XP computers (disappear suddenly from Network neighborhood), so this is not new for me. I spoke to HP at the time.

Note 2: I will find out a way to install the plotter and use it. Just give me some time...

Note 3: HP driver download page say's driver schedule is JAN2010. Let's wait.

Note 4: My HP T1100 have the latest firmware.

Note 5: I would like to now (and this is important) if ANYONE have a "D+P empty window" AFTER removing HP printer.
