Is there a stop to Internet Backgammon cheaters?

I could not agree with you more. Here is what I cant understand. These people can shut your PC down if they don't like it if you leave the game. 

What is the point of playing when you know darn well they are cheating. Some hoe it is in the temperament of these sociopaths that if you wont sit there like a lemming and take their cheating abuse they get so pissed off they can shut your PC down.

How do they feel they have won when it was never them who chose the moves or never took the chance of a legitimate roll in the first place.

Do people feel gratified by illegitimate wins? No skill pure cheating.

The biggest question is why doesn't Microsoft do something about it?

I guess they don't care there software is being perverted.

Have you read my first posting?  I recommended that if you suspect a cheater early on in the game, stop playing - in effect a boycott.  That's the only way to stop it.  I play only 1 in about 10 players after finding a potential 9 cheaters (potential, not real).  So I may have bypassed many legitimate players - a bad side effect of cheaters.

Microsoft copyrighted this in 2001, 10 years ago.  They are not concerned about it.  So we must act with a boycott.

There is a tool out there that these cheaters are using. The person who is developing this cheat program

should be tracked down and banned from the game forever.

There are so many people using it that you cant play and honest game anymore.

All of these people cheat should be banned. They have destroyed the game. What good is it to play someone that has to use training wheels to play the game. How do they feel they have one when it wasn't them that even played the game.

I recorded the first roll of my opponent for 2221 games.  The opponents rolled a 6  861 times or 39% of the time.

The probability of rolling a 6 is 16.7%

The dice are not random or some opponents have control of their roll.

And, yes, there is a way to stop cheaters - don't play them. 

Here's my way of telling a potential cheat (play experts and make them roll first):

1. Their come out roll is a 6 or you have equal rolls and must roll again.
2. Their first free (2 dice) roll is a double or a 65.
3. There is a long pause before their roll.  (They are busy recording moves)
4. There is a long pause after their roll and especially before an obvious move like a 31, 61, 55, etc.
5. They double before their first foll.  (A win is insured for them)
6. When losing severly, they roll 2 life-saving doubles in a row.

The down side is that you will be playing only about 10-20% of the games to the end, win or lose.  It is very difficult to find a non-cheater based on the above.  But, almost guarenteed, if you play them, you will lose.  So why bother.

New study results.  This time I counted (using a program I developed) their come out roll of a 6 or equal rolls.

The expected probability is 33% (1/6 + 1/6)

I got 242/344 or 70%

One more thing...try playing as a beginner, not an expert.  They tend not to use the cheat programs against beginners.

 

The odds of rolling a 6 is not 6 to 1, it is 3 to 1, ie: 33%. This the the same with any number.

 

Many people mistakingly say that the odds of any particular throw is 36 to 1, wheras it is in fact 21 to 1

In a sense you  correct there are 21  different rolls.

but there are not equal odds of rolling a specific double or specific non double.

the odds of rolliing

any one specific double (double 6 ) ARE 1 in 36

one roll (6, 6) out of 36 possible

the odds of rolling any specific non double (6,1) are

2 in 36 (18 to1)
