Is there a stop to Internet Backgammon cheaters?

So I have enjoyed playing Backgammon in the past, but nowadays is just IMPOSSIBLE.  I am sure many others have noticed this.  There are players out there that can control the dice at least for them, and some can even move more chips than the allowed by standard rules.

For example, not 10 minutes ago, I rolled 6 and 5, then the guy doubled me on his first roll, and got double three, then I rolled and I got 4 and 1, then he rolled and got 3 and 1, then I rolled and got 3 and 2, then he rolled and got double 5 eating my lonely chip in position 1 and covering position 3 from position 8.  Do you call that a lucky roll?  I call that an engineered roll, if you know Backgammon.

Yesterday, a guy moved 6 chips using a double 5.  That same guy rolled 4 consecutive pairs.

Yesterday, I had 5 out of 6 positions occupied in my side and I ate one of the other player's chips.  I did this repeatedly.  The guy just lost 1 roll out of 4 chips I ate.  He also had 5 of 6 positions occupied.  He ate a chip of mine twice.  I had to roll some 10 times before I could get out each time.

If you know Backgammon, you know this is NOT right.  Losers out there have found a way to cheat, and that ruins the fun for us, the ones with a brain.

Microsoft, please put an end to this.  Your Windows license is expensive, and I paid for it, and I expect to be able to enjoy all the features in the OS, and that includes the included Internet gaming.  Roll a patch that can end this blatant cheating!

    There are not 36 different dice combinations, there are 21. there is a 21-1 chance of any given throw

    LOL  There are 36 different dice possibilities.  Remember, a 4 -3 is not a 3 - 4.  You have a 2 in 36 probability of rolling two dice with a 3 and a 4 showing, 1 in 18.  There is only one 4-4.  There is a 1 in 36 probability of rolling a 4-4.  But the probabilities of individual dice is largely irrelevant in backgammon.  It is the probabilites of the single die and the sum of the pips that really matter.

    If you cant tell there are cheaters, then either YOU are one of them or as naive as heck.

    Point in case.

    A cheater is not detected merely be his ability to build blocks etc. it is patently obvious when every roll is an ideal one for him. His blocks are perfect, his doubles are nowhere close to the lack of doubles on the other side.

    It's when double (1's) arrive at the most convenient time to build blocks, or when the opponent is given 1-2 1-5 1-6 1-4  on the final lap home, purposely to slow him down as much as possible.

    In a legit game a great player shows skill in salvaging the best moves from the die numbers given to them, not getting perfect die numbers every time to suit his situation. The cheat programs (as you well know) allow him to dial up any given combination needed at the time, (or dials it for him) and allows him to even change the opponent's numbers to benefit him. It has happened to me many times.

    When it is detected I "can" the game immediately to send the message I'm not stupid.  Even if they are appearing to play legit at the outset one knows if they can change your numbers at any given point

    you are being scammed, and there is no point in going further.

    The cheaters do not realize that people who play the game often get a second sense for the rhythm and flow of any given game. When that changes, something is wrong, so what's the point in continuing.

    I feel this way,..what's the point in even playing the game in the first place if you have to cheat? Only one reason, you can't play good enough when there is a level playing field.

    The cheaters must have a difficult time completing many games. Who is going to sit there like a whipping boy and take the BS.

    That's an interesting conjecture - they can identify us.  Just tonight, I gave up playing because the site came to an almost grinding halt.  This is after I have rejected playing with about 90% of the potential cheating players in a span of 2 hours.  Of course it could be just heavy traffic or MS maintenance, but your guess just might be right.

    I love your characterization of them - pathetic pieces of human debris.

    By the way, a new statistic.  For a week now, I have been counting the number of come-out sixes (the very first roll of a 6) played by Expert English with the Chat off.  I got 13 out of 19 so far.  That's 68% and should be 1 out of 6 or 17%.  So I do not play any Expert English with Chat off when their first roll is a 6.

    New results soften the statistic but still nowhere near 17%.  21/55 or 38% sixes.
