System Interrupts Huge CPU Usage

Hi,

I have just recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my machine and I am having a problem with a process called System Interrupts using alot (25% approximately) of CPU.

I have tried several supposed fixes i have found here and on other forums but have not solved the issue.

I am at wits end.

My computer got so slow that the mouse was slow and jerky and I had to reboot. System interrupts was at about 30% CPU time. My PC is now with 5 days uptime and the bug seems to have disappeared. The following solution seems to solve the issue :

  1. Right-click on the speaker icon
  2. Select playback devices
  3. Click on the speaker properties
  4. Go to the enhancements Tab
  5. Click Disable All Sound Effects
  6. Click OK. You're done!

The sound enhancements seem for some reason to cause the problem even when not used. So disable them following the procedure above. Good luck!

    I am having the same problem, recent install on GA-P55M-UD2 with i5-750, low end graphics card ATI Sapphire. The problem started the 2nd day of usage. Once I found that Windows media player networking service used up to 8% of CPU wime, disabling this fixed it - or so I thought. (that may relate to the iPod issues reported here)

    But it wasn't for long: Restart, and some time later with the service still stopped/disabled, CPU usage is back at 14-15%. Same as the other posters above, interrupts and deferred procedure calls (netowrk calls that don't succeed??). I did all sorts of driver updating and playing with bios settings but no luck so far.

    fantastic. It worked. I found that a SATA device had an erroneous PCI driver attached to it (!!) and caused one core to run at a constant 60% load. Updating the driver fixed it instantly.  Highly recommended method to all posters. Only drawback was the 3 h download of 2.5 GB, only a small part of which is used (the wpt_x64.msi file in my cse), and I had one aborted download due to server rror, and even the SDK installation reported fatal error. Nonetheless after wpt_x64.msi install, all worked as advertised. BTW can I remove the rest of the SDK toolkit and just reinstall wpt_x64.msi for future reference? (saves a lot of disk space).
