System Interrupts Huge CPU Usage

Hi,

I have just recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my machine and I am having a problem with a process called System Interrupts using alot (25% approximately) of CPU.

I have tried several supposed fixes i have found here and on other forums but have not solved the issue.

I am at wits end.

My computer got so slow that the mouse was slow and jerky and I had to reboot. System interrupts was at about 30% CPU time. My PC is now with 5 days uptime and the bug seems to have disappeared. The following solution seems to solve the issue :

Right-click on the speaker icon
Select playback devices
Click on the speaker properties
Go to the enhancements Tab
Click Disable All Sound Effects
Click OK. You're done!

The sound enhancements seem for some reason to cause the problem even when not used. So disable them following the procedure above. Good luck!

These components are morethan enough...to give a decent performance level

What is NOT known, however is.....what amount od RAM is being used!

If it ONLY 2 Gig of RAM, this easily explains 'why' the CPU Usage is so high.

4 Gig, max, for a 32-bit OS.

8 Gig +, for a 64-bit OS.

Standard equation for either OS.

The CPU is working over-time....to make up for the LACK of RAM.

If the RAM is 4 GIG, the hard-drive can be really 'choked up'.....with 'cookies',

These certainly will slow any computer down, cause high CPU usage in the same process.

A good DEFRAG certainly won't go astray, either.

Good maintenance habits will alway make any computer work better, faster.

i was having the same problems with system interrupts, what worked for me is going into device manager and system devices and disable the high definition audio controller, once i did this my problem has gone, but remeber when you reboot the device enables again so you will need to disbale it again

Hi. i have problems win NT Kennel system it using high usage.

Solved my problem. Thanks to Xperf. (and Andre)

My problem was that always after returning from sleep, 1 CPU was at 80%.

So, total CPU usage was at 20%.

Windows7 Process explorer showed that System Interrupts were responsible for that.

A reboot always would clear the problem.

So, I installed Xperf, and after some clumsy fiddling with the various traces, I found that the graph called "DPC/ISR, duration by module and function" showed that Storport.sys was causing the high CPU and interrupts. The graph also said that Module "mv91xxst.sys" was the caller of this routine.

I then checked my device manager and there was "mv91xx driver". (or something)

Uninstalled it, and immediately CPU usage was back to normal, no reboot necessary.
