System Interrupts Huge CPU Usage

Hi,

I have just recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my machine and I am having a problem with a process called System Interrupts using alot (25% approximately) of CPU.

I have tried several supposed fixes i have found here and on other forums but have not solved the issue.

I am at wits end.

My computer got so slow that the mouse was slow and jerky and I had to reboot. System interrupts was at about 30% CPU time. My PC is now with 5 days uptime and the bug seems to have disappeared. The following solution seems to solve the issue :

  1. Right-click on the speaker icon
  2. Select playback devices
  3. Click on the speaker properties
  4. Go to the enhancements Tab
  5. Click Disable All Sound Effects
  6. Click OK. You're done!

The sound enhancements seem for some reason to cause the problem even when not used. So disable them following the procedure above. Good luck!

    After you installed Win7, did you then install all the Win7 drivers for your hardware? If not, that's your next step.

    Get them from:

    1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
    2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
    3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

    Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers.

    To find out what hardware is in your computer:

    1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
    2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway)
    3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc Advisor or System Information for Windows.

    I am having the same issues. I have installed all of the drivers that have came with my hardware, first from the CD that came with each then by going to the respective websites and getting the "latest". But the problem still persists.

    This is a really intermittiant problem as well as some times cpu usage will hover around 3% then after an hour (up to days) jump to 100% and then make my computer un-useable. It makes me regret killing my xp install.

    I am very interested in potential fixes for this.
