System Interrupts Huge CPU Usage

Hi,

I have just recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my machine and I am having a problem with a process called System Interrupts using alot (25% approximately) of CPU.

I have tried several supposed fixes i have found here and on other forums but have not solved the issue.

I am at wits end.

My computer got so slow that the mouse was slow and jerky and I had to reboot. System interrupts was at about 30% CPU time. My PC is now with 5 days uptime and the bug seems to have disappeared. The following solution seems to solve the issue :

  1. Right-click on the speaker icon
  2. Select playback devices
  3. Click on the speaker properties
  4. Go to the enhancements Tab
  5. Click Disable All Sound Effects
  6. Click OK. You're done!

The sound enhancements seem for some reason to cause the problem even when not used. So disable them following the procedure above. Good luck!

    I also have been having the same issue with Windows 7 Ultimate. Everything is up to date, drivers, windows updates. It seems to be a random event, but it happens every day, I can't predict how it happens or what program causes the issue.

    Have you followed my guide and used xperf to make a trace when the spikes happen? Do you see which driver is causing it?

    Hi, I have just read your responses and am most impressed with the help you have given. I have just joined the site in the hope of finding a solution to my problem which is that I keep getting interruptions when I play music, watch a DVD or watching a Youtube clip. about every 45 secs or so the sound is interrupted and this completely spoils the music etc.  I have Dell laptop lattitude D505 and am running xp pro and office pro. I have downloaded all updates and do not hhave any signs or reprts of virus or malware. In fact I have recently had my hard disk drive replaced and therefore have reloaded xp pro and office pro - I also reinstalled Norton antivirus befor going back on line, but as soon as I tried to watch a Youtube music clip I encountered  interruption to sound every 45 -60 secs or so. I gave my pc back to the guys who installed the software and they said it was Norton stuff running in the background that was causing the problem so they removed Norton and installed AVG and gave my pc back to me having said that it working ok. Nevertheless as soon as I started up I discovered that it was exactly the same as I still have what I call high cpu spikes which show up in taskmanager as originating from system system and they also show up in Process Explorer Sysinternals as system 4 in both cases the cpu spikes reach above 40% and they correspond precisely with the disruption to sound and sometimes flicker visualisation and momentarily affect the cursor. I have also installed Malwarebytes and no viruses or malware show up. I CANNOT SEEM TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS - ANY HELP WITH THIS WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED.

    Also as a new member of this site where is the best place for me to post this problem. Thanks in advance.

    Well my system interrupts are spiking my CPU at 30 everynow and again.. and I imagine that a perfectly working laptop is not meant to be doing this, as in I really would rather not have and system interrupts.

    Ive just being browsing the internet and listening to much for the last half hour, and my system interrupts average CPU is 10.2.. I dont think this is good.

    Any help?
