System Interrupts Huge CPU Usage

Hi,

I have just recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my machine and I am having a problem with a process called System Interrupts using alot (25% approximately) of CPU.

I have tried several supposed fixes i have found here and on other forums but have not solved the issue.

I am at wits end.

My computer got so slow that the mouse was slow and jerky and I had to reboot. System interrupts was at about 30% CPU time. My PC is now with 5 days uptime and the bug seems to have disappeared. The following solution seems to solve the issue :

  1. Right-click on the speaker icon
  2. Select playback devices
  3. Click on the speaker properties
  4. Go to the enhancements Tab
  5. Click Disable All Sound Effects
  6. Click OK. You're done!

The sound enhancements seem for some reason to cause the problem even when not used. So disable them following the procedure above. Good luck!

    Had the same problem with Win7 Quad Core - constant 25% cpu load (1 core 100% cpu load) due to deferred procedure calls/interrupt service routines. Finally tracked the problem down to a pci ethernet controller I installed, which I have now disabled. The biggest trick is finding the cause - once found either update the driver or remove/disable the faulty hardware. Also if possible try moving the hardware to another slot.

    I am having the exact problem only I lost my high-definition sound card, and the System Interupts Preferred Pro Call and Interrupt Service Routines is causing my CPU to spike to 94, my documents are crashing left and right, even when I barely have anything open. I loved the sound card, and now just getting regular one in my headset since uninstalling the KVM, but that KVM was not audio!!

    Please help. New computer, and this problem is adding 6 hours or more a day for my workload. Missing deadlines. COMPLETELY FRUSTRATED...

    I've followed your guide, but when I open a cmd promt with admin rights, it tells me that xperf is not an internal or external command.
