System Interrupts Huge CPU Usage

Hi,

I have just recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my machine and I am having a problem with a process called System Interrupts using alot (25% approximately) of CPU.

I have tried several supposed fixes i have found here and on other forums but have not solved the issue.

I am at wits end.

My computer got so slow that the mouse was slow and jerky and I had to reboot. System interrupts was at about 30% CPU time. My PC is now with 5 days uptime and the bug seems to have disappeared. The following solution seems to solve the issue :

  1. Right-click on the speaker icon
  2. Select playback devices
  3. Click on the speaker properties
  4. Go to the enhancements Tab
  5. Click Disable All Sound Effects
  6. Click OK. You're done!

The sound enhancements seem for some reason to cause the problem even when not used. So disable them following the procedure above. Good luck!

    my computer has recently started to do this also, it wasn't doing it before.....

    the sound effects advice did not work and i updated my drivers...

    • the problem takes a while to materialise i have to have it running for about 2-3 hours before it starts happening.

    This worked for me.  The sound started to go and soon enough the WHOLE sound driver was lost and I ended up having a big red X on my speaker.  After trying to update the driver and having it fail with the network connection and just all-in-all not working. 

    I ended up unstailling and reinsalling windows 7.  I had to do a chkdisk as well and it found numours errors.  With all repaired system was humming again nicely.  However, it started to go again. 

    I read your comment and did as you suggested.  It still didn't work and was hiccupping like a motha fluffa.  So, i ended up running an update driver and I was on my 2nd attempt, (just before I was about to rip it off the desk and throw it out my 25th store window..). It started working again.  Haulugjjuanjasdf or however you spell it lol

    I also discovered that Windows Media Centre slowed down my PC immensely with the mouse becoming unresponsive at times. I solved this by removing Windows Media Centre from Windows "Programs and Features" altogether. Give it a try! My PC behaves normally after this!

    Hey LucasMcNicoll,

    Have you tried all the steps posted above?

    If so what happened and where did they stop working?

    I think it would be better to start a new thread (link below) due to this thread being so old. When you create a new thread it helps the community help you out specifically with your issue. Remember to include all steps you have tried, description of your PC, and list any error codes you get.
