System Interrupts Huge CPU Usage

Hi,

I have just recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my machine and I am having a problem with a process called System Interrupts using alot (25% approximately) of CPU.

I have tried several supposed fixes i have found here and on other forums but have not solved the issue.

I am at wits end.

My computer got so slow that the mouse was slow and jerky and I had to reboot. System interrupts was at about 30% CPU time. My PC is now with 5 days uptime and the bug seems to have disappeared. The following solution seems to solve the issue :

  1. Right-click on the speaker icon
  2. Select playback devices
  3. Click on the speaker properties
  4. Go to the enhancements Tab
  5. Click Disable All Sound Effects
  6. Click OK. You're done!

The sound enhancements seem for some reason to cause the problem even when not used. So disable them following the procedure above. Good luck!

    See above with the CPU spikes I had related to the HD AudioTek sound card I had. I installed a SoundBlaster external sound card, and now I have no more CPU spikes.

    Yes, mine showed a huge spike with the HD AudioTek, so I installed an external SoundBlaster and now do not have huge CPU spikes and great sound too.

    I had this issue also. Now it is resolved mostly, just one item left. First, if you imported your user dictionary from a previous Windows, it is reading it as "read only" and crashes Word. Second, after I updated my Adobe software, I now longer get this crash either. I just have one conflict left, caused by a word expansion program, which is installed in the Virtual Machine. Also, the HD soundcard that came with the computer was using up a tremendous amount of CPU, so I got an external SoundBlaster sound card and no longer have huge CPU spikes. Check if you have imported something from an older version, as Windows 7 will not recognize these except as read only. Good luck.
