Bluescreen ndis.sys windows 7

I just bought a new laptop hp pavilion dv6-2020ev with windows 7 premium home. Out of  nowhere the computer shuts down and restarts showing the blue screen that says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and the bottom it says ndis.sys and restart and goes through the process again, again and again...

I could not start safe mode with networking. It does the same thing as above, but I can start in safe mode and here are the problem details.

Hi steve45321,  

Welcome to Microsoft Windows Vista Community site.  

This issue is mainly caused by the driver error which is installed for your LAN CARD / NIC (Network card)

The issue can be resolved by downloading and installing the latest drivers for the NIC from the manufacture’s website.  

Note: You might need to download the latest drivers in a different computer and install it in the computer where the issue is present, and you must boot to desktop with Safe Mode Option and install the latest drivers for the NIC

    You were exactly right with your analysis.  I wasn't surprised SEP was the culprit.  Two months later (today) I got another BSOD.  Perhaps it's another SEP issue since the related service appeared to be unable to start until I fiddled with it.  Perhaps you can confirm this in the new minidump...

    Hi ErichMoraga.

    The minidump file showed a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1) stop error caused by the teefer2.sys:

    BUCKET_ID:  X64_0xD1_teefer2+6085

    The teefer2.sys, which is dated Aug 16, 2010, is a Symantec Endpoint Protection driver.

    Try updating Symantec Endpoint Protection  to the latest version and see if it helps.

    The minidump files showed a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (3b) stop error referencing the win32k.sys:

    BUCKET_ID:  X64_0x3B_win32k!xxxInternalDoPaint+19

    The process that crashed was sametime.exe which may indicate increased network activity may  have occurred at the time of the crash so it is possible SEP contributed to the crash. 

    Did you receive just one bluescreen crash recently?

    Hi YashwanthSomayajula,

    The minidump files showed a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1) stop error caused by the athr.sys and  UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP_M (1000007f) stop error caused by the igdkmd32.sys. 

    The athr.sys is the wireless adapter driver and the igdkmd32.sys is the Intel display adapter driver.

    Try updating these drivers.

    Consider also updating the BIOS to the latest version.

    If you decide to update the BIOS back up any critical files beforehand in case of hardware failure after a failed BIOS update, which is a rare occurrence.

    You may also benefit from installing Service Pack 1 for Windows 7.
