Bluescreen ndis.sys windows 7

I just bought a new laptop hp pavilion dv6-2020ev with windows 7 premium home. Out of nowhere the computer shuts down and restarts showing the blue screen that says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and the bottom it says ndis.sys and restart and goes through the process again, again and again...

I could not start safe mode with networking. It does the same thing as above, but I can start in safe mode and here are the problem details.

Welcome to Microsoft Windows Vista Community site.

This issue is mainly caused by the driver error which is installed for your LAN CARD / NIC (Network card)

The issue can be resolved by downloading and installing the latest drivers for the NIC from the manufacture’s website.

Note: You might need to download the latest drivers in a different computer and install it in the computer where the issue is present, and you must boot to desktop with Safe Mode Option and install the latest drivers for the NIC

Hi Jorge,

The minidump points to the NETw5s32:

BUCKET_ID: 0xD1_NETw5s32+ba7b

The NETw5s32.sys is the Intel wireless driver so try updating that driver.

If the issue persists I suggest to start a new topic on the issue to get better help and to avoid confusion with this older topic.

Hi Iulian,

The minidump file showed a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1) stop error referencing the athrx.sys:

BUCKET_ID: X64_0xD1_athrx+47677

The athrx.sys, which is dated Jun 9, 2009, is an Atheros wireless driver so try updating this driver.

If problems persist I would suggest to start a new topic to get better, individualized help.

Hi auggy,

Could you please give me a feedback on my dump file? I recently had (and still have) problems with connecting to a network using my wireless and I uninstalled Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter and then I got a bluescreen. And after a restart it showed up again but with an error message in the Device Status: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"
