"Windows couldn't remove your computer from the homegroup."

I have a laptop and a desktop which were both participaing in a Homegroup.  It stopped working, so I tried to "leave the Homegroup" from both machines, intending to recreate it.  By the way, standard networking and file sharing is still working.  The desktop allowed me to leave the Homegroup, but I receive the "Windows couldn't remove your computer from the homegroup" message on the laptop.  I have run the network and homegroup troubleshooters numerous times on both machines.  I have also researched and tried everything I could find on the web, with no sucess.  Please tell me how I can reset the Homegroup settings on my laptop.

Here is a solution that might work.  It worked for me. 

"Researched the problem and found the solution. A file was corrupted and deleting it got the PNRP service running. The file was recreated correctly when the PNRP service started up. Here's the file for future reference:

C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking\idstore.sst"

    The above solution worked. FYI your \AppData folder is hidden, so you will need to physically type it in order for the folder to show, or unhide it.

    Copy and pasting did not work for me, I had to manually type in the locations.

    None of these suggestions work.  I have deleted those files, even under safe mode, I have tried enabling the processes/services listed, sometimes they activate other times they do not, I have changed what account it works with, blah blah blah.  EVERY suggestion, doesn't work.  I have ot been able to LEAVE the homegroup.  I get that error about not able to leave.

    PLEASE someone give a real solution.

    OK I am trying this last fix now ... already tried the deleting files in the app data directory.     SR lake I have seen your posts in many forums. Hopefully you were able to fix this. Second Microsoft get this problem fixed so we do not run into this  ...   I have wasted hours researching this and it seems many, many people have had this problem.  If it works I will repost and let you know ... if  not I will be back and madder then ever.
