ReadyBoost and sysmain

I am trying to activate readyboost in windows 7 professional 64 bit. When I go to properties on the usb drive, it says ReadyBoost is not enabled because the service responsible for ReadyBoost (sysmain) has been turned off on this computer. An administrator can turn the sysmain back on. Please help.

Hi,

type services.msc into the startmenu search and launch the tool. Search the Superfetch entry and make a double click on it. Now change the start type to "automatic" and click on start. The service now starts and you should be able to use ReadyBoost.

Btw, you should never disbale Superfetch, it slows down your PC!

    Hi,

    are you using Parallels Desktop on a Mac to run Windows 7? The hdd value is higher than 5.9, so Windows thinks you have a SSD. This is a Parallels issue, please contact their support.

    Hello all. I believe that I have found that solution to your problem with starting SuperFetch and ReadyBoost. 

    With your virtual machine running:

    1. go to Virtual Machine > Configure > Optimization
    2. disable the Tune Windows for speed option

    Then go to the start menu and search for services. Once services is open find Superfetch and then right click > click start.

    If this doesn't work go back into the Optimization menu and disable Adaptive Hypervisor as well ( this shouldn't be necessary but I did that first then reenabled it to see if ReadyBoost still worked).

    Assuming the problem you have been dealing with is the same as mine this should fix the problem. It's been about 20 minutes since I made these changes and ReadyBoost still appears to be functioning correctly!
