I am trying to activate readyboost in windows 7 professional 64 bit. When I go to properties on the usb drive, it says ReadyBoost is not enabled because the service responsible for ReadyBoost (sysmain) has been turned off on this computer. An administrator can turn the sysmain back on. Please help.

Hi,
type services.msc into the startmenu search and launch the tool. Search the Superfetch entry and make a double click on it. Now change the start type to "automatic" and click on start. The service now starts and you should be able to use ReadyBoost.
Btw, you should never disbale Superfetch, it slows down your PC!

I have the same message as above.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I followed the above instructions to Superfetch and attempted to start it. The path was: C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe -k LocalSystemNetworkRestricted.
Windows could not start it. There was an error 2 warning.
I typed only "services" in start up menu search. Anything more showed no matches.
Click on services. Click Superfetch. Click on "start the service". Ready boost now works for the device. I have no idea how it was turned off in the first place, but am guessing it was the last ms automatic update, since it was fine before that. Or after running a new WEIndex.
