Windows 7 will not remember wireless network key

I have two wireless networks in my home, which are both secured with WPA - Personal TKIP encryption. For some reason, every time I reboot and login, I must re-enter my network key. I've been living with this for about six months but now its getting on my nerves.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium x64

I would be very grateful if anyone could solve this problem as it is extremely annoying and would save me a lot of time.

I have been banging my head against a wall with this issue for some time but I have finally found the solution.

If you are having trouble with Windows 7 not saving your network security key, or reverting to some old key, the solution is as follows:

run msconfig (start > run (or just type into the "Search programs and files" field above the windows orb) > msconfig)

this brings up the System Configuration dialog box

click the Startup tab

scroll to find your wifi adapter's startup program (in my case it was NETGEAR)

uncheck the box next to this startup item

restart your computer. problem solved.

    I  have been dealing with this issue on a daily basis. The router connection I logging into is my Sprint Wifi Hot spot.

    It work fine with my Netgear router at home,

    If I am connected to the hotspot.

    When I open up the Wireless Network Connection Properties window

    There are only two tabs: Networking and Sharing, NO Connection Tab.

    So I can't do 4 and 5 on your solution.

    Anything else you can recommend?

    Thank you for your fix! I did NOT have a program in a startup, but your solution gave me an idea to look in services and I did find a service called Realtek11nSU, my wireless adapter is "Realtek RTL8191SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter".

    I disabled the service, rebooted and everything is now working! it also solved my Logmein disconecting all the time.

    1.Log Into Network

    2.Right click on Network you just logged into and select "status"

    3.Click "Wireless Properties"

    4.On the "Connection" Tab you can select to automatically log in or not

    5.Go to the "Security" Tab and click "OK" and that should save the password

    I just got windows7 on my new laptop. Same thing.

    I don't see any IEEE authentication option

      or even the wireless card in the startup.

    Please someone from Microsoft answer this thread!

    I don't even have a Properties tab when you right click on the adapter in the Wireless network connections it just shows:

    Disconnect

    Status
