Error Code 0x80041004

Today I started getting network error code 0x80041004 while trying to play internet checkers. What is this error code and how do I fix it?

Problem solved. Yeay, I can now play Internet backgammon after days of torture. I use Win 7. Clear the SSL State by following these steps.

a. Press the Windows Key and the R key simultaneously to get the Run prompt.

b. In the Run prompt, type inetcpl.cpl and press enter.

c. In the Internet Properties window, click on the Content tab.

d. Click on Clear SSL State.

I appreciate your suggestion - which may be helpful in a corrupted SSL state.

But in the current case, error 0x80041004 was just a simple game server connection issue. I was notified this morning about the posts given above. My short test on a Windows 7 production machine shows, that MS Internet games are working again - whitout any further interaction - a kind of voodoo. Or some Microsoft supporter hit the reset button on a game server ;-) - cheers.

    Yes. I don't know why people want to beat a dead horse. Anyone who had read this thread can clearly see that the is no fix. The problem is Microsoft and their game server. End-Of-Story.

       The someone not paying attention will come along and think they found the Holy Grail and the search continues. It is amazing.

    ahah the microsoft experts of the site have for a long time abandoned the discussion. For 7 years, no solution has worked. we think it's resolved we think it's resolved nothing at all it just reiniates just the server at that precise time. the problem is not the player's computer but the servers. this 7-year post confirms it. for proof I have no parental control active > no setup... on the computer. you still find your prodigious solution? we agree that it has a week everything works fine, since big big bug.

    you have to admit that their multiplayer games are great, and for a lot of reasons,

    it's sad anyway

    I think it is not a coincidence on the part of microsoft, that the reason for passing all customers to w10 and microsoft store. all this to be compatible mobile phone. ridiculous. when we know that windows phone is going to be give up. Damage again ... I prefer to multiply by 10 windows phone than android.  give up the games online and use the server for other purpose. I tested w10.     xp was eternal, for those who do not know, still works for business for xp embedded. support and update. I do not recommend, it's very much over. in 3 years there was vista 7 8 10. I feel like I'm caught or scammed
