Active directory domain services unavailable

I'm running windows 7 and after the last set of updates (4/15/2010) I can no longer access the print servers (version 2003). It gives me the message: Active directory domain services unavailable. I have verified that DNS is set up properly and have tried without the firewall active. I have also tried doing a system restore but that failed to fix the problem. I suspect a registry issue as I have the same problem regardless of what problem I try to print with. I am also now having a problem with adobe and am getting the error message: unable to print: no pages were selected to print. I noticed that these patches are for patches. I am also unable to use the diagnostics program because it says I do not have the "Download a file periodically that helps determine system problems" box " checked even though I do. My computer is a tool that is useless with out this ability.

Hi,

Which is the edition of Windows 7 installed on the computer?
Is the computer connected to domain?
Are you able to print on other programs?
Is printing device listed in Devices and Printers list?

We recommend you to try to access the print servers as an administrator. To troubleshoot on the device, try these steps.

Click Start, click Devices and Printers.
Right click on the printer item and click troubleshoot.

Re-installing the adobe program has fixed the print issue on Adobe. Check this link for more information:

I have had the Active directory domain services unavailable message for months whenever I tried to add a printer from Control Panel or Word. However, I just opened Notepad, went to Find Printer and added the printer from there, and I can now print from all programmes.

This illogical procedure worked perfectly for me; on an old Epson printer for which there is no Win7 driver. Prints fine now, using Office 2007 on win7 64bit.

My printer also just suddenly stopped printing and no idea why, but I also received the Active Directory Domain unavailable notice. Since it didn't seem likely the problem was related to Adobe, I tried opening Notepad and adding my one and only printer, and it worked! Thanks!

None of these suggestions work for me. I have a Win7 machine and have used it for several years. Suddenly I can no longer print and it's giving me this Active Directory Service missing nonsense. I've already wasted two hours on this with no end in sight. There seems to be nothing of value on the net regarding this problem.

No, this doesn't help Syed. MS just downloaded 13 updates to my WIN7 for home last night 14 May and now I get with MS WORD and EXCEL 2010 "no printer installed" (the printers are sitting there) and when I try to install, "The Active Directory Services Domain is currently unavailable". I have urgent business and no printer - we need a patch, please. Things were fine yesterday.

I have no clue where Notepad is, not in Programs and no icon.
