PresentationFontCache.exe uses 50%+ of my CPU and therefore my 64 bit Windows 7 system runs even slower than it did with Vista.  Is there a fix other than killing it every time I boot up?

Hi,

the service PresentationFontCache.exe is only usefull if you use WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) applications. If not, start services.msc and disable the service.

    Yes to solve the problem-

    Open task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del)

Then click on the performance tab,

    Then click on Resource Monitor.

    There you'll see

PresentationFontCache.exe--it'll be using at aroung 42-49% of CPU

To get rid of it Right Click on it and click on END PROCESS

It may get there again ,so repeat the above step.and then you're free!!
