PresentationFontCache.exe uses 50%+ of my CPU

PresentationFontCache.exe uses 50%+ of my CPU and therefore my 64 bit Windows 7 system runs even slower than it did with Vista. Is there a fix other than killing it every time I boot up?

Go to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\ ,delete all Font*.dat and reboot it.

Hi,

the service PresentationFontCache.exe is only usefull if you use WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) applications. If not, start services.msc and disable the service.

there is no appdata directory in my LocalService: please can u help because this problem is crippling my computer

Hello Ron,

I believe the folder is hidden by default, so you may need to show hidden files and folders:

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/win_fcab_show_file_extensions.mspx?mfr=true

Try enabling showing hidden files and folders and see if you can locate the folder.

And I have looked everywhere & still cannot find this folder.
