Hello Telicia,
It completely shuts down. No warning. I'm thinking I need to rebuild it. I actually built it in May 2009. What do you think?

My computer shuts down unexpectedly...no warnings no error messages. I just installed Windows 7 successfully and it shut down after a few minutes online. Sometimes it shuts down after 2 or 3 minutes, sometimes longer. I was hoping it was a virus, so I did a clean install with Windows 7. Looks like that didn't help. Could it be the hard drive? Is there any way to troubleshoot what the problem could be? Could something inside the computer be loose? Any help would be really appreciated!

Hello Carol.
I will give it a shot. I may not have to rebuild it. It's about 8 years old.
Thanks.

why do my pc keep shuting down
Hello,
Most laptops have an auto shut down feature built in to prevent over heating. Too much dust can block the air vent needed for cooling and this will happen. Try vacuuming every vent and opening on the body of your laptop. This same thing was happening to me until I gave it a good vacuuming. Instantly cured the problem. Good luck!
Thanks for your help, I have done that, my laptop sits on a Belkin laptop cooling pad, but the fan needed to be cleaned on it. It hasn't done it since.
