My computer keeps shutting down...help please!

I had this problem a few months ago and it is fixed now. You can check all of your connections especially the power cable to make sure it is not loose but plugged in properly. If that does not fix the problem then it may be in the power supply unit inside of your computer which will have to be replaced. You can repair it yourself if you have an electronic background. A place I found online is Skyline Engineering, Inc. that has parts for computers and you will need your model no. and serial no. in order to get the right part. If you are not capable of fixing it yourself, you will have to take it to someone to get it fixed. Hope this info will help you.

Ok first off if anyone is using an Acer aspire 6920 version or any other ACER. There seems to be a fault at the power adaptor connector.

The problem is when you open and close your laptop the power cables inside the laptop get pinched and cause a short thus burning out your transformer and causing the laptop to short and shut off.

If you have an soldering iron and ok to do repairs yourself just open casing around the power in let and do a bench repair yourself.

I added an extra length of cable around 50mm to each power + & - to allow movement when laptop is opened and closed.

Use some heat strink also to protect against earthing.

This repair has fixed the shutting down and stopped burning out transformer.

Another thing i noticed while repairing was all the air vents were clogged up so i took the back off the laptop used a toothbrush and hoover to remove all built up dust.

Take out the fan and clean behind also using toothbrush and hoover.

Hope this solves a very common issue regarding Acers shutting down.

I too had this problem and i boiled it down to an over heating problem on the Ram fan. Just take off the back of your laptop and clean away the dust build up on the vent mesh with a toothbrush. problem solved for me i thought it was a software or a hardware problem but after cleaning all air vents the laptop has not shut down as of yet in the past week.

Sorry i should also of added that i am using an acer aspire 6920g laptop, i disconnected and taken out Fan to get at the the inner component which i think is a heat sink and this had a lot of fluff build up blocking air from cooling.

i notice since cleaning, all temps have all gone back to normal settings
