How to print all the files in a folder without opening each one?

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me how to print all files contained within a folder? I often need to print many files contained within a folder and this would save me a great deal of time!

I've done some testing, and it appears that Windows 7 only allows printing multiple files when they're all the same file type.  So, for example, you can select and print 15 Word documents, but not one Word document and one PDF document.

To work around this limitation, you can print each file type separately.  For example, to print the PDF files in a folder:

  1. Type *.PDF in the Search box at the upper right.
  2. For 1-15 files, press CTRL+A to select all of them.
  3. For 16 or more files, select 15 of them (click the first, SHIFT +click the last).
  4. Right-click any file and click Print .
  5. Repeat steps 3-4 as required.

    Thanks so much for sharing!!! This was a life saver for me!! I am running Windows 7 Pro sp1 and although I did have the print command for PDF files there was still the annoying Windows limit of 15 files at a time and it would not print them in order as sorted in the folder (ie alphabetical). This program worked amazingly, its small, fast and free and did exactly what I needed it to. No adware or bloatware or trying to install additional software such as tool bars either and that is MUCH appreciated!

    Hi everybody,

    I have comment to add. There may be alternatives and 3rd party solutions. But the situation is that for a lot of us, we can do what is describe with word and excel files but not with pdf. I just to work in the past but it has disappeared. It was a very nice feature. Now who is to blame? I mean it disappeared due to Microsoft change something or due to Adobe removed or change something.

    If some one finds some tweaks to do and get back this feature it would be wonderful.

    This will work with Word 2010 and Excel 2010 with Windows 7 to print 15 files at a time

    1.     Press File – Open

    2.     Open the folder containing the documents you want to print

    3.     Do not use Ctrl A to select all files if your folder contains more than 15 files because it won’t work; the print option will not appear when you right-click.  (The only options are: Select, Share with, Send to, Cut, Copy, Create Shortcut, Delete, Rename, and Properties)

    4.     Instead, press the Shift key then select the first and last of up to 15 files

    5.     Right-click and select “Print” from the menu.  The documents you selected will print.

    Hi again everyone,

    My problem got solved after re installing Adobe reader. Or really after updating it. It would not do so automatically and found a post in some web page indicating that sometimes this can happen and one has to manually download it and reinstall it. I did and know I do get again the option to print multiple PDF files (as long is 15 or less files as mentioned by others).

    One other important detail I'm noticing form the different post on this subject. Some are that a user doesn't know how to do it and multiple times there are responses explaining this. But others are like in my case that the option was not there or disappeared so it doesn't help to explain how to do it, it is a matter of how to fix it.

    Hope this comments help someone.
