Numeric Keypad doesn't work

Since installing Windows 7 (from Vista) my numeric keypad does not work (and yes I have checked that the Num Lock is on).  I've checked that the driver is current and cleaned the keyboard and contacts.  Funny thing is when I moved the keyboard to another computer, the numeric keypad worked fine.  I hooked up the keyboard from that computer and the numeric pad would not work.    I checked the properties and they have the same drivers.  What could cause this error on just one computer (both were updated at the same time)?

Hi ifsandorbuts,

·         Is it a USB keyboard? If yes, then try connecting the keyboard to different USB port and check if the issue still occurs. Let us know the results.

Even try enabling numeric keypad and check if it helps, here are the steps:

1.       Open On-Screen Keyboard by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking Ease of Access, and then clicking On-Screen Keyboard.

2.       Click Options, select the Numeric Keypad check box, and then click OK.

Thanks and Regards:

I'm on Windows 10 and this solution didn't work for me.

I explored around Ease of Access Center and found a keyboard shortcut saying,

"'Check box' Turn on Mouse Keys with left left ALT + left SHIFT + NUM LOCK".

I tried it and it worked. Also, I turned it off of course because I don't want it happening again.

I'm glad this worked for you as well and wasn't just a fluke!  I wish some of the other folks would try it also and let us know....I'd like to see if it's a fix for all.  Regarding your query, I don't know if they get points (I suspect not)...I'm thinking that it's probably something more, like them being required to put some sort of answer down and not let any questions go unanswered.  I could be wrong about that.....although a lot of their 'answers' seem like throwing a dart in the air and seeing where it happens to land!

NumLock in OnScreen keyboard options worked for me too... Why do the Mods always mark their stuff as answers, when they obviously have no clue, what they are talking about? Do they somehow gets points, for answered questions?

Try going to the onscreen keyboard in your settings panel.  When it is up and running, press the NumLock button, close the onscreen keyboard as is, and see if that fixes the problem.  It did for me!
