Numeric Keypad doesn't work

Since installing Windows 7 (from Vista) my numeric keypad does not work (and yes I have checked that the Num Lock is on).  I've checked that the driver is current and cleaned the keyboard and contacts.  Funny thing is when I moved the keyboard to another computer, the numeric keypad worked fine.  I hooked up the keyboard from that computer and the numeric pad would not work.    I checked the properties and they have the same drivers.  What could cause this error on just one computer (both were updated at the same time)?

Hi ifsandorbuts,

·         Is it a USB keyboard? If yes, then try connecting the keyboard to different USB port and check if the issue still occurs. Let us know the results.

Even try enabling numeric keypad and check if it helps, here are the steps:

1.       Open On-Screen Keyboard by clicking the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking Ease of Access, and then clicking On-Screen Keyboard.

2.       Click Options, select the Numeric Keypad check box, and then click OK.

    This advice din't help me. I tried a lot of .

    other possible things and found out that pressing NumLog pad down for 10 sec activated my Numpad.

    @ifsandorbuts , another way is to follow the below path and un-check the option('At sign-in' OR 'After sign-in') for "Use the numeric keypad to move the mouse around the screen (Mouse Keys)".

    Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Ease of Access Center\Change sign-in settings

    FYI... this worked for windows 10. So might work for other versions as well, give it a try!

    Or just press & hold down the "num lock" key for 5 seconds and chose not to turn on the toggle keys! Work for me!
