Unable to print on Xerox Phaser 6180MFP "Print driver host for 32 bit applications has stopped working" Windows 7

**Original Title**Upgraded to Windows 7 and installed print driver, now when I try to print, I get this message: 'Print driver host for 32 bit applications has stopped working'

I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7(64 bit) and have a Xerox Phaser 6180MFP.  I downloaded the 64 bit driver and installed it.  The test page printed out just fine during installation.  Now I'm trying to print from Word 2003 and from Internet Explorer 8 and all I get is a message that 'print driver host for 32bit applications has stopped working'.  The system cannot solve the problem and I can't find anything helpful on the microsoft support site.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Most likely the Lexmark driver is corrupting the memory of the splwow64.exe process.  Launch the 64bit version of IE rather than the 32bit version.  The splwow64 process is only used by 32bit applications.

I'm back!

My apologies for the troubles people have been encountering when contacting support for help with this issue. My original posting should have included additional information regarding how to receive support when calling from outside North America.

To find the correct contact information for your country, go to Xerox.com and check to make sure the country setting in the top right corner reflects your country. Then, click on the Contact Us link. You will see a list of phone numbers under the Customer Service heading. I have included an example of what you would see for the UK. When you call the Welcome Center for technical assistance, please request to be directed to 2nd level support. Our 2nd level support representatives can access the beta drivers you need to fix this problem. We expect to have the drivers available publicly on Xerox.com soon. In the meantime, this route should get you the assistance you need.

By the way, for those who have been following this thread and have Xerox Phaser printers and MFPs, new Windows 7 drivers are now available for the Phaser 6125, Phaser 6128MFP, Phaser 6140, and Phaser 6280. Updates for the Phaser 6180, Phaser 6180MFP, Phaser 6130, Phaser 6115MFP, and Phaser 6121MFP are underway.

As a slight modification to my previous post in response to mcgyvr, we have been issuing an updated, beta Windows 7 Phaser 6180 driver through our support organization in response to customer requests. I assume that the version of the Phaser 6180 driver that mcgyvr is using is in fact that beta driver since the version posted on Xerox.com has not yet been updated. We will have the updated Windows 7 Phaser 6180 driver made available on Xerox.com very soon. Assuming mcgyvr is using the updated beta driver, or once we make the updated Phaser 6180 driver available on Xerox.com; the recommended approach is to remove the existing driver and then perform a new install of the updated version of the driver.

I downloaded a 64-bit version of the driver for Phaser 6180 MFP (file name Phaser_6180MFP_Win7_PS_x64_English.exe) from the Xerox support site, installed it and tried printing from Word and got the "APPCRASH" error as mentioned in this post. Printing from Notepad worked fine -- so i'm not sure if the driver on the Xerox support website is valid or should I get the beta version from Xerox as mentioned previously -- perhaps someone can provide some guidance?

I also tried going to the link provided by K Korsky to delete the old xerox drivers, but getting a "Knowledge Server Error". Anyone has a working link or info on how to remove old Xerox drivers? Thanks!
