OK, I identified it on my 6130, I don't know if it can be solved with other printers with equal ease or not. I my case, the job control part of the driver seems to cause the trouble. The solution is to either turn on Job Control or High speed printing
(this latter disables some job control features that I don't need, anyway) in Printer Properties > Configuration to make it work flawlessly from the previously misbehaving applications.
Alan, could you contact Xerox somehow about this issue? It's not Microsoft's fault, obviously, but you must have much better contacts to people at major hardware vendors than us mere mortals could have. All I could find was a live chat at Xerox where I was
politely but positively refused because I'm not from the US. I was told to contact my local Xerox distributor who would, of course, know as much about the inner workings of the drivers of their printers as I do about the other side of the moon... :-)
A quick Google search shows that this K. Korsky has to be Kathren Korsky at Xerox.
