i have set my screen saver to bubbles, after approx an hour or so the bubbles on the screen are whizzing by very very fast. no other issues with screen saver. system recovers after mouse wiggle or key press. havent tried any other saver.

I did some 2min research and found this site Here . This "mod" doesnt really change the settings for the speed but it does allow you to tweak some other stuff for the bubbles screensaver. Just have a mess with some of the settings and see how things go from there. Sorry if this sounds vague but its all i can think up of right now - better than nothing i guess. M$ really does need to fix this, theyve nothing for ages now :(

Hey guys, I am having the EXACT same problem. Let me give you some details. First of all, this appears to be intermittent. Sometimes, the bubbles will be moving at normal speeds. At random times when the screensaver kicks in, the bubbles will be moving at like 100 mph. I had Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, running a Q6600 CPU. I used to have two 22 inch widescreen Acer monitors, and an MSI 8600 GT video card. It worked fine with this setup, WITHOUT ANY problems.
I then upgraded my system components to a new CPU (i5-750), MB, and a 9800 GTX+ video card, using my two same 22 inch Acer widescreen monitors and reformatted the C: drive and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit. IT STILL WORKED FINE TO MY KNOWLEDGE.
My wife had installed some dumb program that was popping up annoying ads, so I decided to reformat my C: drive again and reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit, which I did, and TO MY KNOWLEDGE, IT STILL WORKED FINE.
I then ordered two 23.6 inch Acer widescreen monitors in late July, 2010, (exact items located at):
To my knowledge, I believe that's when I noticed the intermittent speed bubble screensaver issue. I could be wrong, but I think this might have been the trigger. I do have 1 of the 22 inch monitors still and I can swap one of the monitors out to see if the issue persists. I gave one of my old 22 inch monitors to my brother, so to really test this I could:
2) Get my old monitor back from my brother and test both my old 22 inch monitors

Hi, I have the same issue aswell. Didn't really notice it after I bought myself a new 24" screen to dual with my 20" screen. So I can't really say if this could have been the trigger, haven't bothered plugging either of them out and testing. In the end, its just a screensaver, but its still a bit anoying issue. You would expect more when its a screensaver thats a part of microsofts newest operating system.
Hopes someone comes up with a fix :)
