i have set my screen saver to bubbles, after approx an hour or so the bubbles on the screen are whizzing by very very fast. no other issues with screen saver. system recovers after mouse wiggle or key press. havent tried any other saver.
dx up to date, vid drivers up to date
running W7 64 bit
duel vid cards gtx275 sli
duel monitors

I did some 2min research and found this site Here . This "mod" doesnt really change the settings for the speed but it does allow you to tweak some other stuff for the bubbles screensaver. Just have a mess with some of the settings and see how things go from there. Sorry if this sounds vague but its all i can think up of right now - better than nothing i guess. M$ really does need to fix this, theyve nothing for ages now :(
I have 3 computers with this same problem. windows 7 i5 processors, dual screens. the speeding bubbles drive me crazy, BUT my office manager insists on running this annoying screen saver!!!! Someone help with a fix please!!!! I'm a dentist and it is hard for me to do my job when I see these crazy bubbles all day! :)
I've had this problem with the bubbles screen saver for some time, operating systems (Vista and Window 7, 64-bit), using multiple video cards and monitor setups. (I usually run a dual-monitor configuration.) I finally found something that seems to have made the issue disappear. I've downloaded the bubbles.hta (contained in Bubbles.zip) file from http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/window-on-windows/unlocking-the-bubbles-screen-savers-hidden-settings-in-vista/632, ran it by double-clicking on it, and set the Surface Style to Transparent, the Background to Transparent, Shadows to Shadows, and Size to Medium. (Other settings very well may work, but this combination--the first one I tried--seems to work fine, and my bubbles no longer go crazy fast after a while.)
This sets the bubbles screen saver registry settings.

I have the same issue. I have a ATI Radeon HD 5750 Graphics card and AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 5600+. My displays are a 2.5" Acer (H213H) running 1920 x 1080 res. & a 42" LG (42LH40) 1080p res. Had the problem with Vista 32 bit and now with Win7 32 bit. The Bubbles screen saver acted the same with both operating systems. It would run normal for several minutes then would go mach1. With Vista it would make my PC crash. With 7 it just does it till PC sleeps. As with both operating systems it would run fine for a few days after a clean install of the OS then would glitch up. I'm thinking it's a glitch in the OS because I've had the same problem with other hardware configurations as well. I know it's a small problem in the grand scheme of thing for MS, but a "patch", "fix", or "update would greatly be appreciated for us users who enjoy the finer details of the OS.
This is happing on my sony vaio laptop
x64 Windows 7, Nvidia GeForce GT 425M
