This is the answer --- I installed Synaptics for Vista even though I have Windows 7 --- they work beautifully together. You can then disable your touchpad and us a bluetooth mouse and the problem is solved!!! It's great.

I had Windows Vista Home Premium installed on my Sony VAIO PCG-5KSP laptop computer.
It never happened before, but after I installed Windows 7 the touchpad sensitivity went through the roof. The cursor constantly will be "clicked" by my finger or wrist and move to where the mouse is located while I am typing.
It's already happened twice while typing this! I have already tried searching for TouchPad and looked under Control Panel > Mouse >
There is no tab for Properties/Settings with Sensitivity. Under Properties is only shows General, Driver, and Details, and if I click on Change Settings it again only has General, Driver, and Detail tabs.
Where can I change the stupid touchpad sensitivity??

2013-10-14T05:05:47+00:00 This problem has been plaguing all sorts of laptops where the sensitivity is too high. Sometimes the manufacturer utilities dont even help. if you still having problems. You can install a free program called touchfreeze. This disables the touchpad when typing and re-enables when you stop all automatically. Solved issues like this for me .. You can find more info here and its download.
This worked perfectly.

2013-10-14T04:45:07+00:00 All great ideas for someone who doesn't have a real mouse for their laptop. If you do, then none of the touchpad options are under the "mouse" menu in the Control Panel.

You may follow the steps below to reduce the touchpad sensitivity on the computer:
1. Turn on the computer and log into Windows as normal. Open the "Start" menu and click on the option labeled "Control Panel."
2. Double-click on the icon labeled "Mouse.". The "Mouse Properties" window will open. Navigate to the tab labeled "Device Settings." Click on the button labeled "Settings." A window labeled "Properties" will appear.
3. Examine the left panel of the "Properties" window and expand the option labeled "Sensitivity." Click on the option labeled "Touch Sensitivity."
4. Reduce the touch sensitivity setting by moving the slider to the right, towards the "Heavy Touch" label. Experiment with different levels of sensitivity until you find one suited to your needs.
5. Click on the button labeled "OK" to close the "Properties" window; repeat with the "Mouse" control panel. Your new touchpad sensitivity settings are now saved.
You may also follow the steps below to temporarily disable the touchpad while typing on the computer:
Control panel --> "Mouse" (window opens) --> "Device Settings"(last tab) --> "Settings" (bottom right button)(window opens) --> "Tapping" (2nd item in list at the left) --> Uncheck "Enable Tapping" box (top right section)

If this doesn’t work. You need to get in touch with your manufacturer for the latest drivers.
