Windows 7, touchpad sensitivity, Sony VAIO

I had Windows Vista Home Premium installed on my Sony VAIO PCG-5KSP laptop computer.

It never happened before, but after I installed Windows 7 the touchpad sensitivity went through the roof. The cursor constantly will be "clicked" by my finger or wrist and move to where the mouse is located while I am typing.

It's already happened twice while typing this! I have already tried searching for TouchPad and looked under Control Panel > Mouse >

There is no tab for Properties/Settings with Sensitivity. Under Properties is only shows General, Driver, and Details, and if I click on Change Settings it again only has General, Driver, and Detail tabs.

Where can I change the stupid touchpad sensitivity??

This is the answer --- I installed Synaptics for Vista even though I have Windows 7 --- they work beautifully together.  You can then disable your touchpad and us a bluetooth mouse and the problem is solved!!!  It's great.

    Had the same problem and found this thread. The Microsoft "Support" Engineer's answer kind of says it all as far as being out of touch, no? The Sinaptics driver download worked for me.

    heres another option without having to install anything

    hmm you could try this, i had the same problem but i have an hp with windows 7 running system,

    i went to control panel > put view settings: large icons (it should be on the right hand side of the window),

    and then look for the mouse icon, then click on it, a new window will open and click on the "device settings" tab,

    and then click on settings, there should be a menu on the left hand side that says "tapping"

    and then once u click on it, there should be a choice that says enable tapping,

    if its clicked then unclick it, and try tapping your touch pad and see if it still works or not

    I was going crazy with the sensitivity of my touchpad after installing Windows 7!!!! The cursor was possessed. I installed Synaptics, turned off the touchpad, and it works wonderfully with my wireless mouse.

    :  Just to let you know. Win 7 64bit The synaptics driver for the glidepad fixed several problems with the mouse jumping and control of the of the pad and reaction.  Is like night and day, a Sony tech told me I needed to replace the glidepad.  Don't always believe what they tell you..     Thanks to the forum from windows with the suggestion for the synaptics driver...
