Windows 7 has stopped my SD card reader from working.

My SD card reader doesn't work in Windows 7. Have looked in device manager and all is there - have tried updating drivers and told mine are the latest (2006)...

I am not impressed with this system....looks like another Vista farce to me....

Also I have had to hard boot 4 times because my screen has frozen......WTF is going on??

Hi,

Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button ![](http://res2.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows 7/Main/4/f/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.jpg) , clicking Control Panel , clicking Appearance and Personalization , and then clicking Folder Options .

Find these settings on the View tab in Folder Options.

Clear the Hide empty drives in the Computer folder check box, and then click OK .

If You want to say thanks to anyone just click on Vote As Helpful (which is under every user avatar).

    i have a lenovo e2 vision / win 7....the message i get is: E:\ is not accessible. Access is denied.

    btw, i did the  clear the Hide empty drives in the computer folder check box, and it didn't solve the problem. thanks.

    I had the same problem. The card reader disappeared.  I searched a number of forums.  Finally on an HP website, it said to shut down the PC, then unplug it for 5 seconds.  Since I have a laptop (Windows 7), I also removed the battery.  

    When I restarted it, the card reader worked. It's fixed!
