Windows 7 has stopped my SD card reader from working.

My SD card reader doesn't work in Windows 7. Have looked in device manager and all is there - have tried updating drivers and told mine are the latest (2006)...

I am not impressed with this system....looks like another Vista farce to me....

Also I have had to hard boot 4 times because my screen has frozen......WTF is going on??

Hi,

Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button ![](http://res2.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows 7/Main/4/f/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.jpg) , clicking Control Panel , clicking Appearance and Personalization , and then clicking Folder Options .

Find these settings on the View tab in Folder Options.

Clear the Hide empty drives in the Computer folder check box, and then click OK .

    Is your SD card reader just SD or is it SDHC? Unless it's the latter

    you can't read 8GB cards in it, and you need to buy an SDHC reader.

    My SD card reader would not read my SDHC card (SD card reader from very old computer).  After reading your post I was able to read a Compact Flash card.  Which means the device is working properly, it is not supposed to read SDHC cards.

    Brilliant observation that should help others looking for a solution.

    I will install a new SDHC card reader!

    Hi Daniel,

    I have tried this but, it's not been much use as, the card reader is still not being detected  by my computer or installed properly. I also tried to download a driver and that did not work either! Do you have anymore suggestions?
