Windows 7 has stopped my SD card reader from working.

My SD card reader doesn't work in Windows 7. Have looked in device manager and all is there - have tried updating drivers and told mine are the latest (2006)...

I am not impressed with this system....looks like another Vista farce to me....

Also I have had to hard boot 4 times because my screen has frozen......WTF is going on??

Hi,

Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button ![](http://res2.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows 7/Main/4/f/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.jpg) , clicking Control Panel , clicking Appearance and Personalization , and then clicking Folder Options .

Find these settings on the View tab in Folder Options.

Clear the Hide empty drives in the Computer folder check box, and then click OK .

    Curiously, downloading the XP version of the drivers from Toshiba resolved my problem too. We both have the same Ricoh card reader. When I first upgraded to Win7 64-bit, the SD card reader would only work if I inserted a card and rebooted. After updating to SP1, it wouldn't work at all. I installed the XP drivers, rebooted and the reader suddenly works as Plug-n-Play again.

    I also read your next comment that they stopped working on their own the next day. I guess I'll just never reboot again.

    HI there Daniel

    I have a similar problem with my internal SD card on Dell Laptop. How can i find the product number for the card on my laptop, and how can i use the info from control panel>device manager>properties>hardware ids to find the correct driver on the net?

    the hardware ids info for the card on my machine is

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_02331028&REV_11

    it is very stupid the win7 unable read the sd card, when every time i need read the sd card, i have to turn on my another computer with win xp. for so far, microsoft did develop any plug in to fix this problem. i will keep away for win7 for the next time need buy new computer, and warn my friends to pay attention. 

    this issue is very upset. Microsoft is really dissappointed us.
