Windows 7 has stopped my SD card reader from working.

My SD card reader doesn't work in Windows 7. Have looked in device manager and all is there - have tried updating drivers and told mine are the latest (2006)...

I am not impressed with this system....looks like another Vista farce to me....

Also I have had to hard boot 4 times because my screen has frozen......WTF is going on??

Hi,

Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button ![](http://res2.windows.microsoft.com/resbox/en/Windows 7/Main/4/f/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33/4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.jpg) , clicking Control Panel , clicking Appearance and Personalization , and then clicking Folder Options .

Find these settings on the View tab in Folder Options.

Clear the Hide empty drives in the Computer folder check box, and then click OK .

    Is your SD card reader just SD or is it SDHC? Unless it's the latter
    you can't read 8GB cards in it, and you need to buy an SDHC reader.

    error 38:  I had this problem over a year.  I had to reboot my computer when ever I put a SD card in my computer to see it.

     I did this on a whim & it worked after many fixes did not work.

    .

    1. Reboot computer so u can see SD card.
    2. Go to the device manager &  uninstall the SD driver. ( with the card in )
    3. Take the card out & reinstall the card into your computer.

    it will automatically install a new driver.

    Now it works.

    I tried several cards, they all work.  Hope it works for you.

    No such Animal found min my Windows 7 Control Panel  Only personalizations which is just desktop background pictures..
