Random freezes with windows 7 - 64 bit

Ok,

I re formatted and reinstalled vista X64.

I unplugged EVERYTHING but mouse and keyboard.

I still get HUNDREDS of SVCHOST.EXE  but they resolve within about 1-3 minutes and I get just

some sytem files running.

 From what I can tell, 99% of the SVCHOST... files are DLL files. Each different and "moving"

quickly within the table.

I have gotten a couple of "event 100,201" warnings for slow shutdown and slow start up.

EXPLORER.EXE seems to be the culprit there.

 So far she is performing as she should. No updates of any kind installed. No sound drivers

or graphics drivers are installed. Other than what came with the OS.

Tommorrow I will initiate sound from MOB only and install WWll online from a disk. and play offline.

This pc is not going to taste the internet for awhile.

Question: is it normal for the OS to initially run SVCHOST...DLL files in such large numbers with boot-up

(or just after)?    (I'm still getting them as before but they go away much,much quicker than before.

this question is best posed to Microsoft as to what those service host processes are doing but it does not sound reasonable at all to have that many. Something is seriously wrong with the OS to cause all of this.

Having the same problems as all of you as well. Computer will randomly freeze up anywhere between 5 minutes to 1 hour or so. Havent found anything that I can possibly call as a clue to why this is happening. Just upgraded to windows 7 last week, and everything worked just perfectly for a few days. I then loaded up Heroes of Newerth and played for approx. 30 minutes before I got my first freeze-up. Now the freezing has not stopped. All CPU, GPU, ACPI temps are normal. I feel as though the only hardware that could be causing this problem is my Power Supply, But I am not even sure if that is it. My northbridge fan is not spinning, but that is probably not the case for this problem to be occuring.

I know we are all experiencing the same problems.. so any help would be amazing.

also just to add, I have frozen in safe-mode.. multiple times. I do not feel as though it is performance related because it will freeze even if I am idle on the desktop screen. Nothing seems to trigger this problem.

I am using Avira Anti-Virus, idk what else to state... Ill edit if i think of something.

Its your memory stick timings, voltage/frequency that is the cause here if its crashing in Safe mode. i can almost bet my life on it.

I´ve done some more tests to fix the problem:

  -Changed my power settings (no effect).

-Updated my drivers. I don´t know if all drivers is up to date but I´ve installed the latest drivers for sound, and graphic card. Windows can´t find any new drivers (Didn´t help.).

-scanned windows system for false files. (No finds).

-Defragmentation. There was nothing to defragmentat since I Installed Windows 7 less than a week ago.

-Disk Space Cleanup Manager. Removed old windows files (no effect).

-Cleaned registry with CCleaner (thought it helped but it didn´t).

-Cleaned registry with Registry Mechanic (Didn´t help).

-Stressed my graphic card with ATITool (no error during 15 minute test)

-Stressed my CPU and Memory with Prime95. (After 45 my computer freezed)

 

I don´t know if it is something with the Motherboard, CPU and Memory or the usual freezing just interrupted my stress test. I´ve not mention that sometimes when freezing I get some weird sound coming from my speakers. It´s a high pitch sound playing in loop when the computer freezes. This is mostly happening when I watch movies or listening to music. I think it´s just the last sound before freezing that´s in loop. It´s kind of like 'Screech of Death' but I don´t have a Creative Sound sound card.

Edit: I runed the Prime95 again and this time for 11 hours. No error.

you must bump down your memory timings, frequency and voltage to get a smooth system with this software OS problem. Its the only way until Microsoft gets off their lazy as s es and fixes this c r ap. >.< I am running my system memory at 800mhz when they are premium modules specced to run @ 1066mhz. Stupid Microsoft. They don't care about us just the bottom line in their dumb paychecks. =P

Ive also tried alot to fix the problem without success. I changed my power settings, update drivers, etc.  Last night i did cleaning of my registry with CCleaner. My computer didn´t freeze until a few minutes ago. Thought it fixed the problem but no. Today it even shut down the computer by itself. Was writing on my essay when the screen turn black and the computer rebooted, weird! Then I opened Spotify and didn´t even get to the welcome screen when the computer freezed again.

this is definitely the typical example of how the situation happens. It's the memory timings for sure. Once your memory is bumped down to lower frequency and correct voltage this problem goes away. Its an OS issue for sure not a hardware problem. I've had enough experience with this problem to be 110% certain of that fact.
