Every time I shut down the computer ; no mater how often; it always comes up " installing 1 of 1 '

I was given help from microsoft once and it worked only for one day now it's BACK

HELP !!!!!

    This is so simple. I was also having this problem.

    Just right click on "My computer" and the click "Manage" . It will open a window and in that window you will see a text that says "Services" in the left column. Click on that and find out "Windows Update". Double click on that to open the properties option for that service. And there you will see a option that says "Startup type" . From that dorpdown option just select "Disable" and apply the changes and you are done. Check the screenshot here .

    Hi,

    Thank you for the post.

    Which antivirus application are you using?

    The issue might be due to settings or other applications conflict.

    You can run Windows Update troubleshooter and check the issue status. You can also try the other steps mentioned in the following link to troubleshoot the issue.

    "Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer" error when you try to install Windows updates.

    Important: System Restore will not revert any of the non-system files like documents, email, music, etc. to a previous state. These types files are completely unaffected by System Restore. If your intention with this tool was to recover a deleted non-system file, try using a file recovery program instead of System Restore.

    Note: Please ignore the “in-place upgrade” step.

    I live across the street from the building where I work. Before I left for the work place the my Toshiba Satellite had this warning that it was installing updates and it literally said 1 of 132 and the standard 'do not turn your computer off. When it FINALLY finished and I shut it down...packed across the street and started it up it did the entire 'updating' torture all over. That time it took over an hour!! And then it shut itself off. Upon restarting it the instructions said it was 'reconfiguring' windows. And I had to wait another 5 minutes.

    Boy. This is fun.
