Every time the computer is shut down, it always says installing update do not turn off your computer

Turn off automatic updates.  It's the biggest waste of time ever.

Every time I shut my computer down , the message comes up " do not shut down windows is installing 6 of 6 updates .  When I check the update log, the same 6 updates are installed for every shutdown date.  Is there an easy way to prevent this from recurring with installed updates?

Every time I shut down the computer ; no mater how often; it always comes up " installing 1 of 1 '

You see, there are many factors that play a role when such error occurs. Sometimes, the computer cannot install these either mandatory or simple updates for several reasons.

1. The updates may require an Internet connection and your laptop might not have been connected at the time meaning it couldn't install updates, so the computer just still tries to install but it can't after several hours; therefore just shutting down. To sort this out, make sure you have a stable Internet connection before you start installing the updates.
2. The computer may have had many programs or one program preventing the computer from shutting down or getting ready to install updates and shutting down after that. To sort this out, make sure all open programs are closed; you can also press CTRL + SHIFT

• ESC to open Task Manager and go in the Processes tab and close any running applications and programs (including Task Manager) before you are finished (for Windows 8 and 8.1) or go into the Applications tab and close any running programs (for Windows 7).

3. You may have a Virus or some other type of malware that is interfering with the computer installing the updates. I would most certainly advise you scan and then remove the Virus/Malware from your computer immediately before any more harm has come to the computer.
4. It could also be the computer having a technical fault, stopping it from installing the update. Or certain system files have been damaged for some reason meaning something strange is happening to the computer. If this is the case, I would strongly recommend you consult a computer and PC specialist to sort out your computer's technical fault.
5. Or it could just simply be a very large update that will take a very long time for it to be installed. And since the computer may have resumed the update, it could just take it a while to get back on track of where it is with the update.

As I said - there are many reasons for this problem occurring so I would recommend you try these different methods and see if they work.

I have only been troubleshooting windows 7 with 64 prosessor for  maybe about 10 hrs. since I  started having the update problem and what  ultimately worked for me was to open control panel,search for windows defender,run the scan  for spyware and other potential unwanted software.It will say that it will take a few minutes,but when I grewup that meant (3) not (30 mins).Be patient,,it will finally complete!Keep checking freqently to make sure that this process does not stop working on a particular prgm.scan for more than say 15sec's ,if it stays lockedup you may have to restart the process.And this is either a big file,or one of the problem files causing you grief!Once completed you should see a much improved performance increase from your system.If not however,there still may be other issues that your system is having to deal with.Other things to consider:Make sure that you do not have old software still installed in your progams that you do not need,such as norton,mcfee,or other antivirus software still installed or running on your computer as this would mean you have to go thru multiple firewalls instead of 1,for firewalls more means...SLOWER! My laptop runs like it was new again.

Try like below. I was also having this problem and I fixed it.

Right click on My Computer and then click on "Manage"  then a window will open. From that window you will see a link in the

left column that says "Services" . Click on that.

Then find out the service name called "Windows Update" . Double click on that to open the properties. There you will see a

option that says "Startup type" . Select Disable from that. And you are done.
