Xbox 360 Controller plugged to USB with "Play and Charge Kit" does not work

Hello, i've Windows 7 as O.S, and i'm having some problems with my Xbox 360 controllers. When i've bought the play and charge kit for my xbox 360 controller, i heard that it was possible to connect it to te pc in order to play with games for windows live. So, i've started to look for drivers, and i found them in microsoft's hardware official site. I've installed them, then i've restarted my p.c, i plugged in the USB, WIndows recognized the hardware. I thought it was alright. But, even if the hadrware has been recongnized, it doest work. Then I've discovered that "Xbox 360 Accesories 1.2" does't recognize the hardware, and it is not recognized as a gaming Hardware, but as a generic Hadrware.  at that point i've gived up! I've surfed in the internet, trying to find somethig or somemone able to help me, but it was useless. Now i hope you'll be able to solve my problem!

P.S: I've alredy tried to change controller, to change USB port, to change cable, to uninstall and repeat the driver's installation...

Hello TheRick.

Unfortunately this won't work.  The Play and Charge kit only connects up to the actual battery.  The controller still connects over wireless.

You'd need either a wired Xbox 360 controller, or a Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver which will connect to your existing wireless controller.

    Hey paul can you help me? I have the wireless reciever and have already installed the software. When I conect the reciever to the computer I get the sound off for the usb port but the light doesn't blink on the reciever and then the reciever disconects and doesn't conect again.

    Can you help me?

    Hey peeps, Good news and Bad news....

    The good news is that the plug and charge WILL work with the pc, its just an edit needs to be made to the drivers. me and my mate stripped a wired and a wireless controller and traced the circuits... the plug and charge MAY charge the battery, yes but its all circuited virtually identically (take the battery out and you can still use the controller, yes its wireless but it will work like a wired controller). My proof being, If you have two xbox's, you have to press the signal buttons to switch the controller from one console to another... now wrap your controller in aluminum foil... oh look it DC'ed... connect the plug and charge wire and re-wrap it in foil... its a wireless controller but the cable makes it act wired. full signal. this proves the plug and charge wire does actually send and recieve more than just charge/battery data. so, theoretically, it can be used on a windows pc to play games.... whew... now the bad news: Nobody i have found has yet edited the drivers for the plug and charge wire to make it work. so we have  theoretically sound proof that it can be done, anyone good with driver editing?

Please post back letting us know what works and what doesn't. :-) im shock as i just went out and paid for this device. first off month ago my xbox360 hard stoped working and i called up and they made me to tests then they say is it me not doing it right. and i had to go out and buy a NEW one with money i dident have, even tho my xbox360 was under waranty. now i went out paid £15 for nothing.... also i have windows 7 and what do you know. the desktop messed up after reinstall, areo ____. i tryed fixing it, but to fix it i have to delted some thing which inture the mess up my screen as i right click. what your staff forgot to say is make sure you have windows update on or it wont do it. lucky i put it on, i know this is not down to you at all. but i have had so much bad luck with microsoft. i have study for 6 years now in computer hardware and software. at till this point the only windows OS i find is good is xp. windows vista - bugged. windows 7- issues. now windows 8? or i heard windows next? - who to know. i find you are just trying to beat mac a sales and just bring as much sofware and hardware out as fast as you can to beat their sales. i for one loved micosoft but now i have lost faith. im sorry but its the truth is will be buying windows 8, if it lacks or seems rushed i will be going to a diffrent OS.
