Xbox 360 Controller plugged to USB with "Play and Charge Kit" does not work

Hello, i've Windows 7 as O.S, and i'm having some problems with my Xbox 360 controllers. When i've bought the play and charge kit for my xbox 360 controller, i heard that it was possible to connect it to te pc in order to play with games for windows live. So, i've started to look for drivers, and i found them in microsoft's hardware official site. I've installed them, then i've restarted my p.c, i plugged in the USB, WIndows recognized the hardware. I thought it was alright. But, even if the hadrware has been recongnized, it doest work. Then I've discovered that "Xbox 360 Accesories 1.2" does't recognize the hardware, and it is not recognized as a gaming Hardware, but as a generic Hadrware.  at that point i've gived up! I've surfed in the internet, trying to find somethig or somemone able to help me, but it was useless. Now i hope you'll be able to solve my problem!

P.S: I've alredy tried to change controller, to change USB port, to change cable, to uninstall and repeat the driver's installation...

Hello TheRick.

Unfortunately this won't work.  The Play and Charge kit only connects up to the actual battery.  The controller still connects over wireless.

You'd need either a wired Xbox 360 controller, or a Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver which will connect to your existing wireless controller.

    Hi guys, I have Win7 x64, soon switch to Win8 x64.

    Ok, I was going to buy this XBox 360 controller for Windows + P&C kit, but according this topic  doesn't work as Play & Charge but just Charge (on PC). Am I right?

    It claims Play&Charge... not Play OR Charge. I'm a bit confused.

    I'm reconsidering whether buying this controller or not then...

    That can't actually be true cos when you plug it in, it will only install if a pad is connected and it says xbox360 wireless control with charge and play kit. Plus when you use this to plug into an xbox you dont need to sync the pad and machine. So it can't simply be a battery charger.

    lies! first off. WINDOWS recognizes its a wireless 360 controller via a play and charge kit. ALSO

    on a forum i found this,

    "This is what alot of people have told me but its just false information from M$ to get people to spend more money.....the Play and charge kit has 7 pins on its connector (the same amount as a wired controller) also seeing as it showed up on my pc "xbox 360 controller via Play and charge" shows that it does send data too.

    So as a test i "disabled" the wireless module on a junk 360 i have so it didnt pick up a controllers signal, then i plugged the controller into the 360 with the PnC kit and i could play games quite happily with it...so its 100% software locked out via the pc."
