Xbox 360 Controller plugged to USB with "Play and Charge Kit" does not work

Hello, i've Windows 7 as O.S, and i'm having some problems with my Xbox 360 controllers. When i've bought the play and charge kit for my xbox 360 controller, i heard that it was possible to connect it to te pc in order to play with games for windows live. So, i've started to look for drivers, and i found them in microsoft's hardware official site. I've installed them, then i've restarted my p.c, i plugged in the USB, WIndows recognized the hardware. I thought it was alright. But, even if the hadrware has been recongnized, it doest work. Then I've discovered that "Xbox 360 Accesories 1.2" does't recognize the hardware, and it is not recognized as a gaming Hardware, but as a generic Hadrware.  at that point i've gived up! I've surfed in the internet, trying to find somethig or somemone able to help me, but it was useless. Now i hope you'll be able to solve my problem!

P.S: I've alredy tried to change controller, to change USB port, to change cable, to uninstall and repeat the driver's installation...

Hello TheRick.

Unfortunately this won't work.  The Play and Charge kit only connects up to the actual battery.  The controller still connects over wireless.

You'd need either a wired Xbox 360 controller, or a Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver which will connect to your existing wireless controller.

    Actually, during the time the Play and Charge kit is plugged in the controller's wireless funtion is disabled. It is disabled because it would be using too much power, while wireless, at the same time it is trying to replace it. Which could eventually short out the controller causing it to be unable to be used anymore.

    This is incorrect; in trying to get a controller connected to through the play and charge kit, it turned one of my consoles on and was operating it via wireless, while charging form my PC.

    Hi,

    Like i said in my thread before: there are few solutions for that, so, i suggest - you can try any of this:

    1 Get another laptop with Windows XP Professional - it will work on it,  so use it like that

    On windows XP Professional (32bit, and 64 bit) - all hardware is reckognized PROPERLY and works - always

    2 Try a free trial install of Windows 8 (downloadable from Microsoft site) - it will work on it too

    3 Consider buying one of DELL Studio or Dell XPS laptops with WIndows XP pre-installed, these are built

    for Windows XP by DELL, and not so expensive anymore, these days are cheap on the eBay, Amazon, etc.

    WIndows 7 is just no-go for that kind of hardware, unless Microsoft soon makes a patch to fix the problem,

    (i don't think it will be so soon)

    You need XP, and Windows XP Pro - and if it's 64 bit - it can also support up to 120 GB or RAM, if you did not know,

    and is better than any of the new windowses, and faster. Windows XP Pro 32 bit (supports upto 4 GB RAM, or

    WIndows XP 64 Bit = yes (supports up to 120 GB of RAM, and is fastest and best for gaming, and anything else).

    Vista = no

    Win 7 = no

    Win 8 ? we don't know yet, looks good so far, but interfaces are ugly and annoying, so - test it and see...

    wow, im 3 years later, but hope you will still reply

    I've been trying the past week without success to use my 

    xbox360 controller with my pc, ive installed a driver from

    microsoft and all that, done everything by the books, tried

    a lot of different methods xpadder,ihor, e.t.c..

    it's wired, and its bran new, and my computer is also bran new

    custom made, everly exspencive using windows 7 ultimate 64-bit

    i hope you can help me, really sucks if i boughta controller for 100$

    that wont work for me then -.-
