Hello, somehow I have managed to disable the shortcuts for cutting and pasting. I can only do it manually through the menu bar. I cannot Ctrl C or Ctrl V anymore - nothing happens! What have I done? Please help.

Annoying problem if you rely 100% on keyboard shortcuts! I had the same problem and the fix is very easy. You will need to uninstall your keyboard driver and restart your computer and your CTRL keys will function once again. To do this:
1) Click Start
2) Control Panel
3) Printers and Other Hardware
4) Keyboard
5) In the Keyboard Properties window, click Hardware
6) Click Properties
7) Click Driver
8) Click Uninstall, click OK
9) Restart your Computer

Is this only happening in Microsoft Word or does this also occur in other programs like 'Notepad"? I went to Microsoft Word support and am showing commands listed below. Again, if only happening within Word, I would suggest going to site listed.

I had a similar issues where Ctrl C would freeze an application and the "thinking" circle would show and sometimes the application - Word, Excel, Outlook - would issue a "Not Responding" message.
I went into Word (2007) and "Office Button" - "Word Options" -"Advanced" scroll down to Cut, Copy and Paste area. Then changed 2 defaults: Pasting Between Documents and Pasting From Other Applications to "Match Destination Formatting".
If that doesn't clear it up, you can also go from the "Word Options" menu to "Add-Ins" and Go to "Manage COM Add-ins". I disabled MS Live Add-in and Shareview (since I use neither).
I am not 100% sure which option solved the issue but Ctrl C and Ctrl V are faster than ever. Hope this helps some ...
MADMAC I was suffering from this problem , and changing word options - advanced /copy options comment worked for me to solve my case. I assume this ctrl+c not-working problem is related with office advanced settings as you said....

I am also having this problem, and it is driving me crazy. I can only use the options to copy and paste by right clicking in my mouse, and this is in all programs. Word, Firefox, Excel, basically anything.
I went into Word, and the shortcuts are still set to Ctrl +C and Ctrl + V.
I am running Vista 64 bit, and the worst is that when I try to use my Gmail and copy and paste into Google docs, the only way I can copy and paste is by using the menu up above in the bar at the top. This is seriously inhibiting my ability to use this computer for my work, as keyboard shortcuts are ESSENTIAL to working quickly.
If anyone has any idea how I can solve this issue, by resetting the shortcuts directly in my keyboard or anything, I NEED a way out of this problem.
Another clue - when I went into the settings in Word to try and reset the shortcut, when I tried to type in CTRL it would not read the entry. But CTRL B for bolding still works. This is making no sense at all and driving me crazy, so please help me!
