Hello, somehow I have managed to disable the shortcuts for cutting and pasting. I can only do it manually through the menu bar. I cannot Ctrl C or Ctrl V anymore - nothing happens! What have I done? Please help.

Annoying problem if you rely 100% on keyboard shortcuts! I had the same problem and the fix is very easy. You will need to uninstall your keyboard driver and restart your computer and your CTRL keys will function once again. To do this:
1) Click Start
2) Control Panel
3) Printers and Other Hardware
4) Keyboard
5) In the Keyboard Properties window, click Hardware
6) Click Properties
7) Click Driver
8) Click Uninstall, click OK
9) Restart your Computer

Is this only happening in Microsoft Word or does this also occur in other programs like 'Notepad"? I went to Microsoft Word support and am showing commands listed below. Again, if only happening within Word, I would suggest going to site listed.

I have had the same very frustrating problem.
The sollution is very simple!!!
In Word go to Tools/Customise. Click on the Commands-Tab.
The Click the Keyboard button.
In the Categories block Click Edit.
In the the COmmands Block CLick Copy Format.
Click in the block "Press new Shortcut Key"
Press Ctrl and C.
The Click Assign.
It will give a warnng.... You can ignore the warning because your Ctrl-C went currupt anyway.
Proceed.
You will now be back in business with CRL-C

I was interested in your question. I have a had a problem with Ctrl C not working in Winwods Live Mail. I use Vista Home Premium. It works some of the time, but I can't reliably discern under what conditions it doesn't work. It seems more reliable when copying within a window (e.g. during writing an email) rather than across windows (e.g. from a mail to another application). But it sometimes does work across windows.
Copying via the Edit menu is fine as is the right click mouse menu after selecting text.
It is not a keyboard issue and seems not to be a short cut assignment issue, given that the Edit menu indicates Ctrl+C as the short cut and also that it works some of the time. I use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V all the time in many applications, but I only get this problem in Windows Live Mail.
Is this a known issue? Is there a solution?
