Is there a Microsoft licensed registry cleaner? I have heard horror stories about the unlicensed products available out there.

Stay away from them all!

Registry cleaning programs are all snake oil. Cleaning of the

registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and

don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and

what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of,

having unused registry entries doesn't really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously

removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit

it may have.

Let me point out that neither I nor anyone else who warns against the

use of registry cleaners has ever said that they always cause

problems. If they always caused problems, they would disappear from

the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry

cleaner and never had a problem with it.

Rather, the problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it

the substantial risk of having a problem. And since there is no

benefit to using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad

bargain.

Look to running a check for malware and avoid the use of registry cleaners..

we could go on and on about what is good and what is not forever, but my thoughts are, and will never alter, that problems generate income. computers is the only industry in the world that is not accountable for its products. to put that into perspective , if you use one of these magic fixes and it goes wrong , tough. at 3pm today i had automaticupdates download onto my computer, after closing down and rebooting for them to take effect my computer shut down again, with a notice on my screen saying " your computer has recovered from a fatal error " that was the result of microsoft updates... i have said it before and i will say it again if they were in any other industry ie cars, televisions ,, or household appliances ,, they would have gone bust years ago. because they would have been accountable for their products ,, and customers would have the option to go elsewhere and never return,, recent surveys show that microsoft have only a small share of todays products and are in line to be the next kodac ,,, serves you right,, value for money instead of greed and the making profit before anything else being the priority at all cost ,,,no one wants a product that runs sweet in computers ,, because that nice man at the end of the phone waiting to charge you £28 to help you put right a problem that they caused in the first place ,,,thats the way it works and i am amazed that people have not woke up and smelt the coffee by now,, people are still asking the same questions on here that they were asking in 2004,, and those same problems have made millions in revenue .
